Each of the breweries on the Sylva tour tap into the mountains, brewing some of the best craft beers anywhere. Experience these local breweries in a unique way while learning more about this joyful beverage called BEER!

Innovation Brewing

With a goal of changing the way you think about beer, Innovation Brewing is always creating new brews and rotating them around. With 30+ different beers and 12 standards, Innovation does just what their name implies... they keep innovating and creating exciting and delicious beers.

Lazy Hiker Brewing Company
Sylva & Franklin, NC

Located not far from the Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail, their original brewhouse and taproom in Franklin, NC has spread to their latest location in Sylva, NC. Brewing a variety of unique and flavorful beers, Lazy Hiker beers have names like Twentymile IPA and Trail Mate Golden Ale. With a goal of providing a good benefit to the community, Lazy Hiker excels.

Balsam Falls Brewing Company
Sylva, NC

Brewing with sustainability and the environment in mind, Balsam Falls Brewery brews classic beers along with unique and creative special brews that focus on the diversities of taste and flavor. Starting their craft as home brewers, the owners have expanded their operation into a brewing house with a tap room and eatery.

Tour three great local breweries while walking the historic downtown area of Sylva, NC. You'll enjoy three different beer samples at each brewery (included in your ticket price).

  • Tour length: 3 hours
  • Where: Historic downtown area of Sylva, NC
  • Breweries visited: Innovation Brewery, Lazy Hiker Brewery, Balsam Falls Brewery
  • Beer tastings: 3 different tastings at each brewery (9 beer tastings in total)
  • 10% discount on brewery merchandise while on the tour (not beer)
  • Free brewery stickers when available
  • Guests per tour: 10 maximum (minimum 2 needed for tour to operate)
  • Price: $59 per drinker, $29 per non-drinker

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 2:00-5:00 PM

Brewery Tour FAQs, Rules, and the Fine Print

  • All brewery tours must be booked in advance via this website or by calling 828-506-4943.

  • Brewery tour drinkers MUST be 21 years of age or older and show a valid photo ID prior to the tour departing. Non-drinkers or designated drivers are welcome on the tour at a discounted ticket price. NOTE: NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR LACK OF PROPER IDENTIFICATION. Consuming, purchasing, or selling alcoholic beverages to anyone under the age of 21 is against the law in North Carolina. Beer Treks, LLC and the great breweries on the tour cannot take the risk of serving someone that does not meet the age requirement. Please plan accordingly as no exceptions will be made for those without proper ID.

  • Cancellations MUST be made at least 72 hours prior to your tour's departure time to receive a refund. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • All brewery tour itineraries are subject to change based on daily brewery schedules and availability.

  • All brewery tours will be held rain or shine, so please check the local weather forecast and be prepared for mother nature.

  • The walking distance is less than 0.5 miles.

  • All breweries are wheelchair friendly and accessible. 

  • Kids are welcome to accompany adults. However, if at any point during the tour, your child is not enjoying themselves and affecting the enjoyment of others on the tour, we ask that you please take them away from the group. There is no charge for small children on the tour.

  • Dogs on the tour. Many of the breweries have dog-friendly areas, mostly outside. If we're inside sampling beer, your dog would have to remain outside. Our advice is that you leave your dog at home...that is the easiest thing for both you and your dog.

  • All brewery tour tasting samples are included in the ticket price. Additional beer or merchandise purchases at the breweries are available at your own expense.

  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as a natural disaster, Beer Treks, LLC reserves the right to cancel any brewery tour. Those with reservations for the canceled tour will be rescheduled or refunded.
